Buff DesMarais died Monday, May 23rd, while pursuing one of his passions - white water rafting. For the last several years he was able to work just part-time so that he could better enjoy the company of his wife & children, grandson, sister and her family and many good friends while hiking, biking, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, white water rafting, working out at the gym, ATVing or watching one of his favorite teams (Steelers, Penn State, Whitworth, Gonzaga, Mariners & Spokane Indians) play baseball, football or basketball. Married

Growing up in State College, PA

Comment from Barbara Dahl "Sis":

"The first picture of our family at the shore is from 1963. Our parents divorced the next spring.
He was my "older" brother. He made sure I knew it, pestering and teasing me, dunking me in the pool, shooting fireworks off outside my window. But when I attended my first high school dance, he was the one who watched over me, checked out who I was dancing with, and was there for the last dance so no one else could "take me home". Also, he was the one who waited up for me the first time I came home from college, arriving home at 2 a.m. He just wanted to talk."

As a child

"The top picture was taken at Whipple Dam near State College, Pa. The next two at the Jersey shore near Cape May. We usually spent at least a week there each summer. As you can see, being near, in, or on the water filled our summers. Our mother was usually with us, and just as wet and tanned.
Then there is Halloween (our mom made the costumes) and Easter. After the "Cactus Kid" (Robert's favorite shirt) there is another picture of Whipple Dam from a Fall picnic. Then school shots and home. We had a wonderful childhood in a beautiful place.

Loving memories from Robert's sister"

1947 - Big brother

Comment from Jennifer Coon (niece):
"What a beautiful photo, I can't believe that's my mom at Evie's age! Those associations will never die, I know firmly that we will see Robert after this life. But I'll miss him until then..."
